"Old Washy" Restoration

The Newtown Fire Association is having it’s oldest piece of fire apparatus restored. The antique hand pumper, nicknamed “Old Washy”, was built in 1796 and was purchased in 1824 when the Newtown Fire Association was formerly known as the Washington Fire Company. Old Washy was first used in January 24, 1825 to fight a large barn fire at the Silver Lake Farm in Newtown Township. Old Washy was restored once before in 1959.
