The Newtown Fire Association (NFA) is a dedicated volunteer fire protection organization that has proudly served the Newtown community since 1889. Our team consists of highly trained and professional volunteers from all walks of life, united by a common goal: to serve and protect. Alongside the daytime career staff of the Newtown Emergency Services Department, our volunteers respond to fires, vehicle and technical rescues, emergency medical services, and hazardous material incidents.
We Need You!
Due to global events and local demographic changes, we are facing new challenges, and the increasing population means we need more volunteers to continue safeguarding our community. No prior experience is necessary; we provide all the training you need. While the work is demanding and the hours can be long, the sense of accomplishment and pride make it worthwhile. Additionally, the NFA offers several benefits, including life insurance, training in various emergency services, a paid-per-call system, and access to an in-house fitness center.

Please Note: Applicants under 18 do not need to submit a criminal background check.
Junior Membership
Age: 16-18 years old & still in high school
Requirements: Adherence to state and federal child labor laws regarding firefighting activities (provided by NFA).
Working papers are required with the application.
Probationary Membership
Age: 18 years and older
Requirements: Completed application, background checks, and fingerprinting as detailed.
Experience: No prior experience is required
